Summertime as a kid should be pretty much completely magical. This summer, I made a point of making sure Abby got at least one fun activity a day. For almost all of July, that meant strapping on her helmet and heading to the park on her bike to play with other kids while I worked out on the track. She had a great day with her cousins, a day at the Museum of Anthropology with our family and a friend who was visiting from Montana, and then she even got to do the Vancouver Aquarium again with one of our close family friends.
If you ask Abby what she’s done this summer, she says that she “mostly watched TV”, but as always, it’s important to me to make sure that she has amazing experiences that she can remember throughout her time off. This week we’ve snuck away to spend some time on Vancouver Island with friends and other kids, and from morning to night? I barely even see the kid.
In a bathing suit, or shorts and a t-shirt…. she reports to me when she’s bleeding and that’s all. It’s been an incredible time of building memories and living Lord of the Flies for the last two days, and I look forward to more fun in the sun to come.
Here are some really fun pictures of our trip so far.
