If you wipe their nose; push them on the swings until your arms are tired; if you go swimming when you don’t want to or you omit ingredients off pizza that you actually like for them; if you have held them through their tears after a midnight bad dream; if you spend the time to fold just one more load of laundry before you get to what YOU wanted to do tonight; if you’ve gone to work when you’re sick, or to a job that you hate just to put food on the table, or spent time putting trucks back on wheels, or gluing the ears back on tiny cat figurines….
If you’re a man who has been there for his children, may you have an amazing Father’s Day tomorrow with your loved ones.
For stepdads, uncles and grandpas who fill these roles, may you also be celebrated.
And ladies, If you’ve mated with one of the men who DON’T man up and do these things for their children, pat yourself on the back too. Because for the time he’s not spending, you have to pull double time with no pay.

So here’s looking at my mommy; the best damned dad I ever had.

Loved the whole thing. One thing a non-dad has taught me is how it feels to be second to everything else. I promised a long time ago to never do that to my own children. It’s the most rewarding thing in the world when your kids know for sure you love them.
