In our household, all of the birthdays are finished in a matter of two months. Our friends and family, however, are all spread out all over the map. Just last week, Abby and I were invited to celebrate cousin Rylan’s 8th birthday, which is a huge thing for me since the boy couldn’t even talk when I became auntie Lindsay.
All my life I had grieved the fact that I would not fulfill the role of auntie for kids, due to my own upbringing as an only child. Now I am lucky to have this wonderful family to share moments, holidays and create memories with. These are the moments that are truly a blessing. These are the days when we create for these kids the memories they will hold throughout their adult lives, hopefully as “The Good Old Days”.
